Remaps
« on: March 06, 2024, 01:27:28 pm »
I know it’s been talked about to death in the mk5 area but I’ve never been into modifying cars so never taken any notice. I’m thinking of remapping my mk6 GTI. I only want to go stage one for a bit more power. It’s a DSG, would I also need the DSG to be mapped? Or can you just map the engine without any issues from the box? Can anyone recommend a generic map like APR or something? Or would I be better off getting a custom map? One final question, is there anything I should do to the car before getting it mapped? I’ve seen people say to replace the HPFP

Before any remap, make sure your car & engine are up to date with regular maintenance.
IMO, it's better to get the DSG mapped at the same time as the ECU remap. It will cost more, but most tuners will offer a discount if you do both at the same time. The remap wakes up the whole car/engine, but to get the best out of it, DSG tune should match for the best launch strategy & shift points.
On the GTi, you might want to invest in an Anti-lift kit to get the power down better.
