Metal Valve Stem
« on: January 16, 2025, 11:34:08 am »
Recently bought my first MK5 GTI (06) as my first daily performance car. Ownership currenlty has been great until finding out I can't buy a metal valve stem, from VW (or anywhere in the UK), for my wheels leaving me with a flat.

Looking at forums i think my wheels are monza I (17" with a lip around the valve). I believe the part I'm looking for is '1K0 601 361 B' or maybe '1K0 601 361'.

If anyone has a recommeneded/trusted supplier please let me know. Or if I am getting the wrong part

are you sure you have 17" rims as I thought only the Monza 18" rims used that valve.
The part number for the 18" Monza rim is  1K0 601 361

Without traction power is nothing!

The early 17" GTI wheels definitely have metal valves, as I have a set of them in the garage.

They look like the ones in the link above, but the seals can be changed......no idea of the seal specs, so you would need to measure a removed one

It does seem confusing, I ended up replacing my metal valved wheels for later rubber versions. This thread may help: https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,72725.0.html

Depends if you have the early hollow BBS versions or the later solid RONAL versions

Checked the front two wheels and they are '1K0601025AC'.

Reading a couple posts down 'https://www.clubgti.com/forums/index.php?threads/unable-to-find-any-valves-to-fit-17-monzas.256039/'. I would need the part '1K0601361' rather than the B at the end. Im not fully sure at the moment due to reading the the monza I bbs would need the 1K0601361B.

I think futher down the road ill try find ronals (maybe for a winter setup) or the ed30 BBS but currenlty I cant budget it.
