Diverter valve - GFB VTA
« on: October 02, 2024, 09:05:41 am »
Hey guys

background info: bought a 2007 mk5 Golf GTi about 6-7 months ago, found a decent deal on one with only 70k miles. It's still on it's original rev C DV. Had a stage one remap a couple of months ago.

So... last couple weeks I've noticed it's just not throwing you back in your seat when you floor it any more, it's been a gradual loss of boost so pretty sure it's a tear that's got bigger. First port of call is replace my diverter valve. I was just looking at a direct rev G replacement, but while i was looking i found this

https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-car/volkswagen/beetle-16/dump-diverter-valves/gfb-vta-for-vag-applications-with-factory-pierberg-diverter-valves/

I've read through the other DV threads on here but can't find a mention of this version - Anyone have any experience with this?

cheers

That looks like it vents to air. Might not be the best thing for a MAF sensor based TFSI.

Having said that, I went through a few valves, tested on a 1.4TSI CAXA, a 2.0TFSI BGB and my own 2.0TFSI BWA:

  • Rev C - Stock, fissures after some time. Also the valve itself doesnt extend that far out so it barely just sits on the blow-off hole
  • Rev D - Can actually hear it whistle under load. It's not holding pressure perfectly since it's plastic on metal
  • GFB DV+ - Not sitting properly on the blow-off hole. When un-powered, even just blowing air with your mouth, it'll go through. When powered, seems to hold boost. On a 1.55 bar K04 tune it will throw a CEL due to failing to release boost fast enough.
  • Rev G - Rev C but different material and the piston extends 50% further out. Quite literally perfect.

Go for a Rev G. They are using it to this day for a reason.
Mk5 Jetta 2.0 TFSI BWA | Manual | Mk6 GTI Front | BorgWarner K04 Turbo | Sachs X-Tend OEM+ Clutch Kit | Ta-Technix Air Intake | Ta-Technix 200 Cell Downpipe | Ta-Technix Intercooler | Stock Injectors | Vis Motorsport 175 bar HPFP | 300hp

cheers mate, this is exactly the sort of comparison i was looking for  :happy2:

Yeah after reading up on it VTA is Vent To Air. Which would be cool if i was 17....

I'll go for a Rev G. thanks again bud
