Engine jerking causes?
« on: November 01, 2024, 05:24:16 pm »
I was wondering if there is a way to reduce the jerkiness of the engine. I feel like there is too much back and forth rocking of the engine. I changed the pendulum mount with a new Lemforder one and I even installed an insert. It’s hard to explain but the car feels heavy and not pleasant to drive. No brakes binding btw.

It’s a manual. And both of the other mounts are new as well.

Is it mapped?

Mine is mapped but has had new engine mounts, new dogbone mount, new complete oem clutch pack fitted early this year and in just under a year got worn out soo bad that when driving in first or 2nd gear, and the clutch bites, it jerks the whole car as if I was running a single mass flywheel with a racing clutch

The map itself is also very aggressive. It cuts fuel as soon as I press the clutch in so when biting, it's very harsh, unless I give it some gas beforehand. The map was made for fast shifting (manual) so the rpm's drop faster this way.

Could be the subframe bolts are bent\loose causing a shift

I had the same issue, I replaced the two upper engine mounts (lemforder) plus the new revised dog bone mount (VW) and powerflex inserts in the top 2 and 034motorsport inserts (upper and lower inserts) in the lower mount.

It made a bit of difference but nothing amazing. I then had fitted the 034motorsport subframe locking kit w/uprated bolts. This made a massive difference and the car doesn’t feel washy/loose at the front and feels taught and planted under acceleration and driving in traffic where it was very noticeable and annoying to say the least
