Rear suspension upper/lower arms - best ones
« on: Today at 10:41:05 am »
Is there any real difference in all the different brands of rear arms? The cost can be massively different so am wondering where the difference is?

I have seen some listed as HD / or uprated but from what I can tell these are only having better bushings and I am likely going to be poly bushing so no point in paying extra for bin fodder.

Basically, do the more expensive ones have thicker metal or better welds or more structural bracing and can anybody name the better ones?

Finally, is anybody aware of any differences in these arms across any of the PQ35/45 family as I need to change these on my 2005 Mk5 GTI, 2010 4mo Tiguan and a 2014 Skoda 3.6 4x4 and some ebay listings suggest anything fits anything and some suggest that certain kits wont fit a particular car so I am just curious about what the difference may be

Spare Car - '05 GTI dsg 5dr

Interested!
I'm planning to do a full suspension refresh as soon as the weather gets better. Not sure about parts as well. I will try to go OEM as possible but just like you said Meyle offers HD parts for which I've heard some good stuff.

I went full rear suspension refresh with lemforder parts through AVS (vwspares.co.uk)  and genuine VW bolts. Seems to be good quality at reasonable cost (everything came in for less than £400) although only had on for 8 months and less than 1000 miles and doesn’t get used during winter so can’t vouch for longevity yet.
