Golf 5 1.4 TSI 122 hp Reliability
« on: Yesterday at 06:30:39 pm »
I've been meaning to buy a car, and ive found a Golf 5 1.4 TSI at a good price and good mileage, but im not sure about its reliability, and pretty much the only things i found online are about the one with a supercharger and a turbo, where this one only has a turbo? What's your experience with it, and should I just stick with safer engine options of the car? Thanls

The 122hp version is built like a tank. It is probably as reliable as the golf 4 75hp 1.4 was. I've owned mine for 4 years now and the only thing that failed was the ABS unit. The car is stage 1 mapped to 155hp. If you want reliability, go with the 122. Just make sure you get the timing chains done asap and not only replace the tensioner chain guides but also the tensioners themselves as there are some revised parts there.
