Remanufactured CV Shaft
« on: Yesterday at 02:58:48 pm »
Hi guys. I've decided to change my crusty CV axle with wasn't making any issues but was heavily rusted so just wanted to freshen things up a bit.
The one I got is a remanufactured OEM one from Spidan (GKN).
However I think there is a clamp missing.

The boot has some kind of a factory pinhole as well and it makes air come in and out. Is this as its supposed to be or what 😂

It also comes with this style of bolt. Should I straight swap it with a standard 12point?

Yes there should be a clamp, I'd send it back to where you bought it from, I'd question if it was genuine as I thought GKN were a very reputable company.

Also the CV boot shouldn't have any sort of hole in, water would get in and ruin the joint. One of my CV's was making a noise and I ended up getting a full shaft. I asked the parts supplier who we deal with to get me the best available and he got me a BGA one. It was a bit tight getting the gearbox end in but it's been on a few months now and haven't had any issues.
