I have an 07 MK5 GT 2.0, the 140 version. When idling from start, whenever stopped at lights or just stopped in general the engine is extremely noisy and almost sounds like it's rumbling/going to explode.
I know these cars are quite noisy in general but it has definitely changed since purchase. When I give it a tiny bit of gas in neutral the noise stops and goes back to what I'd expect the engine to sound like.. see vid below, you can hear the engine sound drop off almost completely when I give it the tiniest bit of gas..
