Forum Upgrade – Which Features and Mods Should We Bring Back?

As part of our upgrade from SMF 2.0.18 to SMF 2.1.8, we're working on bringing MK5GolfGTI up to date while keeping the features that made the forum useful over the years.

The upgraded forum includes a refreshed design, dark mode, improved mobile compatibility, and better photo uploads with automatic image resizing.

However, some of our original custom modules and third-party modifications are no longer compatible with the latest version of SMF.

We're gradually rebuilding our custom features and reviewing which older modifications should be updated, replaced or re-enabled.

We'd like your feedback!

Which features from the old forum would you like to see return?
Are there any modifications or tools you particularly miss?
Is there anything about the upgraded forum you'd like us to improve?
Do you have any suggestions for new features?

We're also working on importing older images from 3rd party hosts, improving spam protection and making the forum easier to use across modern devices.

Some features may take longer to restore than others, particularly those that relied on older SMF code, but we'd like to prioritise the improvements that matter most to the community.

Got a bit of work done.

Likes are now a built in feature, I migrated the old likes so we don't loose them.
We now have daily backups.

Dazza , it used to be top right on the forum. Where the unread post buttons etc were.

I changed the second button at the top to point to Recent Posts

Got the mods catalog going.
Dont think I will bother with the Detailing Catalog.
