ed30 has another 30hp due to a bigger turbo and is massivly undertuned.  A remao alone will see you pushing  to the 300Hp mark on Dyno Dynamics rollers.  Maye eve 400Hp on some others

They are worth the extra cash if you looking at tuning them. to get my vRS(same tfsi enine as the norml GTI) it cost me about £2K to get the car upto the region of 280Hp/320Ibft.  The ed30/cupra/S3 wil do that on a £500 remap alone.

Before buying my car, i test drove alot of cars to see what i wanted. Astra VXR, leon cupra, Golf GTI, Octavia vRS, Mazda3 MPS, focus ST, Meganne 225.  of all of them i disliked the handling/drive on the VXR the most.

I whittled it down to the ST, vRS, Cupra or GTI in the end.
Loads of guys at my work had the focus already and it was dead thristy, so i dropped that. And i couldn't see how the golf was worth an extra 3k was in the golf over the vRS and Cupra so i ditched that as well.

thus leaving me with either the Octavia vRS or the Cupra.  I chose the vRS as i thouht the extra oomph of the cupra was only a remap away.  Little did i i know it had the K04 turbo. In hindsight i wish i had of picked up the cupra.

bear in mind when your searching that

the Mk5 golf, mk2 audi A3, mk2 Leon, mk2 Octavia have the same underpinnings.

The GolfGTI, Octavia vRS, leon Fr, Audi TT and Audi A3 use the same 2.0T FSI k03 engine.
tuning wise
Stage 1-240Hp/270Ibft
stage2-260Hp/300Ibft
Stage 2+280hp/320Ibft

The Ed30/Pirelli/Cupra/S3 use the 2.0T FSI k04 engine
this is a majorly undertuned engine especially on the golfs and leon.
tuning wise
Stage 1-300Hp/300Ibft
stage 2-330Hp/330Ibft
stage 2+ 360hp/360Ibft

on a side note when i had my car on bluefin stage 1, it had no issues with staying with an old workmates VXR nurburgring.  thats bearing in mind it was only putting out 241Hp a that point
