Caliper help!!

Hi guys
Hope someone can help.
Take a look at both pictures, as you can see one of the calipers has a piece missing.
What is it? And is it important?
Can the caliper be used without it?
Please help guys, I'm hoping to fit these this afternoon.

Yes it's to stop vibration also comes on the mk6r iirc.. Not much worry but I guess it's better to have it than not have it

My first r32 calipers didn't have them. My 2nd set did. No noticeable difference between them
