What to do
« on: April 17, 2010, 06:46:58 pm »
Ok guys help and Advice needed!!!

I recently sold my modded 3dr to S2Ant due to having out 2nd child on the way. I have replaced the Gti with Ifti's Ed30 and its a great car but I miss the rawness of my old Revo stage2. I had the APR trial put on today and the car feels good but i honest dont think it is on par with my K03 stage 2 but I may be expecting too much :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:

So the simple question is, I have a £2k to spend. I have written off £500 already as I am waiting for Morty to get some more RNS510's in so that leaves me with £1500.

I have been looking at JKM's site and in particular there stage 1.2, im now sat here with my brain fried, (not hard  :P :P :rolleye:)

What would be your mods and why??

Thanks Guys
SMudge

first off Id be checking you have no issues (DV tear etc)
should be equiv to your old car.

ITG or Forge Twintake intake
HPFP (autotech internals via dubtech or full APR pump)
TBE exhaust blueflame or APR RSC

prob not enough in your bank  :signLOL: but that would be my choice.

DSG or manual as you need to budget for a clutch if you are manual or a DSG remap if not
Red ED35 5dr DSG
DEFI boost guage / RTech Stg1 Engine/DSG / PPMk7 front brakes

i say dont bother with the ful TBE.  just go for the downpipe.

My 3" piper gave me a much deeper burble that way in no way intrusive in the cabin.  when i change dthe cat back it made the car sound awesome, but also harder to drive quick.  everytime i stuck my foot down you would here my car from a mile off.  Not good, when there are always police on patrol around the medway area.  Consequently i dont think ill ever do the cat back on a car again.

also by only doing the dowpipe, you will save your self a £450-£500 sheets.

My mods would be

REVO stage 2 £550
3" downpipe and sports cat  Â£450
Panel filter( or Intake if you can stretch that far)
front and rear anti roll bars  Â£260
WALK  Â£130, thats houold leave you enough for labour cosrs as well.

Lol, you prefer a quieter ride and you put Darth Vader under the bonnet

Surprised smudger that you feel the car doesnt feel much different from your k03 car.

The Ed30 should feel like it has more grunt mid to top end.Perhaps a health check with vcds would be a good and worthwhile check to see if alls well .

Thanks guys plenty to think about.

Nothing wrong with the car it was checked today!!!

May invest in VCDS but aint got a clue where to get it LOL LOL

Dont get me wrong the car is quick but doesnt feel as aggressive as my Revo car. I expect it is a more linear power delivery with APR????

If its like some other named trials, they arent the full Fat versions, so perhaps look at going the whole hog, get yourself some fresh Rubber on the front wheels and try again.

Personally, I think you are expecting to much, in comparison to your modded GTI. Remember, your modded GTI was much nippier then even a stock ED30. You've got used to the power in your modded car, and by falling back to stock its bound to be a bit of a shocker.

You sure you want to hit the slippery slope again though?? I thought you wanted to remain sensible and keep it stock due to the kids etc......lol
Its true what they say then, - once you've had a taste of applying mods, you cant live without!! lol

How do you think I feel - going from an ED30 to a damn TDI!!!
I do hate the travel associated with my job sometimes! Then again, once the paycheck arrives I cant complain

Ifti your dead right m8 but tbh i always thought of doing a couple of things to it. I certainly wont be going as mad as my other car!!!!! If you drove the car now m8 it would blow you away. I washed it 4 times since last Saturday and I got some Swisswax Best of SHow going on it tomorrow so it is getting pampered!!!!

How the TDI!!! :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

John_0 has the APR map on his Ed 30 ( updated version has been fitted since.)and my Ko3  is stage 2 Revo. i have driven John_O's straight after jumping out of mine and there really was nothing in it. Mine felt faster just about until you got up to 4500 - 5000 revs then you could feel his had the edge. Once you get a map and Zorst on the Ed 30 you will be happy then i am sure.  :happy2:

well out for a very little blat today and not sure if there a flat spot and it doesnt seem to pull very after 100. Deffo no quicker than my stage 2 K03 car.

So i have bought a Blueflame TBE and Carbonio Air filter off Hedge. Will then look at booking it into JKM to have it mapped and rolling roaded. Prob get a forge valve on there too.

Just got to order the RNS and shes done  :signLOL: :signLOL: for now
