Has anyone fitted a reverse-parking camera to the RNS-510?

Will it accept only one input or could I fit two cameras, one reverse and one FLIR?

I want the RNS-510 but also want a camera for reverse parking at the very least.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Some the maniacs/geniuses (genii?) on VWNavi have gotten a rear parking camera working with the Golf V. I don't think you can fit a FLIR camera, possibly through the AUX connection like you would a TV?

FLIR = forward looking infra-red

Jetfighters and the like have them as a way of seeing what's ahead of them without radar switched on.

I think the new Merc has it integrated so you see far ahead of you where normal light can't reach.

I think it'd be cool in the ED30

Is that the same as the passat cc one? Pops out the rear badge? That's what I'm after or even just a normal reverse camera but either way want to be able to connect it to the rns-510

youd probably be better off with a mk6 boot release retrofit. if it works!

Yeah, some of the vwnavi people have gotten a mk6 camera working on a mk5 IIRC. Will look for the thread tomorrow, it's full of europeans speaking english poorly so is a bit difficult to comprehend :P

And the Merc S and CL classes are offered with the FLIR as an option, as are the BMW 5, 6, and 7- series. Works quite well but the image is on the central screen. I think FLIR projected onto the RNS-510 on the console could be distracting!

Yes I believe so with the correct parking sensor controller fitted, I am currently looking for details on Vwnavi myself :happy2:

The feature is called OPS and was fitted to the loaner Eos a had a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. It's works in the same way as the BMW graphical parking display on the latest iDrive enabled cars.

Let me find the details, but if you haven't got the sensors then it will be a bit more complex I would think. I will look for the thread now  :happy2:

Details can be found in this thread.

http://vwnavi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7823

You basically need a certain version of the CAN gateway and the right PDC control module and then some VDCS coding from what I can see  :happy2:

I am just trying to work out what the part number is of PDC controller I need as it appears my car already has a new enough CAN gateway  :jumpmove:
