sat nav for standard stero
« on: April 20, 2010, 12:50:23 pm »
Hi All, Im thinking of changing my standard GTI Stereo, (i own a 2005 GTI) to one that has satnav built in, does anyone know if the satnav/stereo will plug straight in to my old din sockets or will i have to get a conversion kit of some sort. or maybe get a professional to fit it, it would be great if it were to just plug straight in but as for things being simple they usually arent...your comments are appreciated...thanks.

It is plug and play though some VCDS magic may be required depending on where you source the RNS-510 from.

Also, since yours is an '05 you will either have to make sure your RNS-510 has a firmware of less than 1200 or you will need to replace and recode your CAN gateway otherwise your battery will be drained flat if you don't use your car for a day or two.
