« on: April 20, 2010, 08:17:30 pm »
Any avaiation photographers on here?

If your near Shrosphire next month the RAF are flying in a Nimrod MR2 which is destined for the Museum at RAF Cosford but as Cosfords runway is too short they are going to fly it in to Shawbury.

I have some contacts so I'm trying to find out the timings etc. Be a real chance to try the new camera too... :happy2: and aslo catch the final days for the "original" mighty hunter... :sad1:
Cheers,

Wayne

Well at present know one knows if one is flying into Shawbury or even attempting to land it on the short runway at Cosford, spoke to a chap at Shawbury today and they haven't heard anything either...the latest news was to disect it and transport it in sections by road to Cosford from Kinloss... :sad1:
The Waddo Normans would be R1's.... :happy2:

Wayne

Go on you've drawn me in... What are the differences between them. What do the R1's specialise in etc?

R1's are the ELINT and special operations Jets, easy way to spot them is short stubby tail instead of the full length MAD boom, bristling with aerials plus the 51 sqn jets have the squadron badge on the tail fin... :happy2:
