New Stereo system lasted a day!!!
« on: April 30, 2010, 10:59:38 pm »
Took a trip up to see Oli off this forum on Sunday to collect the Blaupunkt AMp and stealthbox of him. Was well happy, got my stereo fitter to sort it all out along with an RNS 510. Collected the car late Wednesday Night and was happy with the improvement.

Well tonight I gave it a bit of VOLUME as a cool CHOON came on and now one of the front speakers is flapping its head off  :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:     So I now need to replace the front speakers!!

So my questions are:-

1. Go a 3way component set? (Had Hertz in my last car and wasnt overaly impressed)
2. Go a 2way component set?

Ideas and recommendations please, Have a budget of circa £300. The Blaupunkt amp is rated at 65 watts RMS

Cheers guys

Smudge

I've got some 2-ways that I'm looking at putting in - cr@p weather so I haven't done it yet.

Doesn't really matter imho, as the GENIOUS designers at VW put the main driver behind the front seat!!  :congrats:
The soundstage ain't great.

I was lookin at using my 2 ways and potentially incorporating the 3-way crossover from the standard setup, and use the OEM midrange driver.....

Food for thought  :happy2:

PICS PICS PICS!

Smugster, check the door panel first! I had a similar issue with the passenger side speaker vibrating and it acually turned out to be the door panel that was rattling. It sounded just like a blown speaker so I didn't look at it for ages, then I happened to have teh door panel off and noticed it was slightly loose. All tightened up and now there's no more vibration  :happy2:

Have you set your RNS up to output low level instead of standard high level?
You should do this when using an amp. I had to do re-code my RCD510 because I have the VW soundpack amp. I'm sure the blaupunkt amp should be able to run the standard speakers.
