Squeaky suspension
« on: April 24, 2010, 10:43:22 pm »
Hi all,was driving the otherday and hit what I swear was a crater. Which ripped my tire although my alloy is fine (a little scratched) my suspension must have compressed fully as it went with a right bang. had the wheel off and everything looks ok but noticed a few times when going over something like a large hump at slow speed I get a large creek from that supsension?
Anyone experienced this? Any ideas what could be prob. Seems to work fine nearly all the time

How confident are you buddy?

I have squeaky suspension as well...happens when going over speed humps.  Is there anything I can check visually if the car was on a ramp?

I would try lubricating the arb bushings...

Thanks Bacillus, being new to this I guess I should use something other than normal grease or WD40.
I don't want to run the risk of damaging the rubber bushes, right?

Some sort of silicon based spray should do the job...

The squeaking noise has come back and is getting worse... could it be the shocks? Help please...   :sad1:

Did you use silicone spray?  How long did it go away for?

VW were kind enough to spray some silicone spray.  Never really went away completely...but after a month it's back again.

Change the Arb bushes if your not happy with spraying Silicon spray to shut them up for a few weeks.

Are you confident it's the ARB bushes?  Is it a common thing?

If its on the front, and whilst going over speed humps commonly, then yes, mine does the same. Silicone Spray shuts it up now and again.
