Bodywork paint recommendations - Kent
« on: April 26, 2010, 08:14:31 pm »
Hi all

Although at this stage I am just tentively thinking about it, would anyone know of a decent paintshop near Bromley, Kent to spray the bonnet and front bumper of my black ED30 (stone chips!)?

Being a bit of a perfectionist I would really prefer someone recommended to take a look and convince me that all would be perfect after, as otherwise I will just live with them (I have touched them in as they have appeared).

Cheers!

There is only two garages I trust my car with, one is in the greenwich borough and the other in the bexley/greenwich borough. Top quality work, prices and really quick turn around.

I'd be careful going down this route depending on how long you intend to own the car. Some people will see its had the front end painted and be very wary of it having been in a crash, regardless of what you tell people, they may or may not believe you.

Just a thought.

GE90, bit off topic but having just realised your near Bromley thought I would say hello and will have to keep an eye out for you, I enjoyed your write up of the detail from gleam machine and have been contemplating doing the same myself.  Have you considered getting in a mobile chip repair company rather than a full re-spray?  Something I have been thinking about before getting the car professionally detailed.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

Yes, this is exactly what I have been thinking. I viewed quite a number of black Golfs, and most had the same stone chipping. I am tending to think that I should leave well alone, as they are genuine and have been touched in well.

Rich - Hi, I am not sure that the mobile companies would tackle the bonnet chips. They are not really that bad, so I just need to convince myself to live with them!

Does it still look like it did after the detail?  If it does then I would leave it well alone, you are more than welcome to come look at the front of mine if you need to convince yourself that yours is in good condition!!!!  :sad1:

I might take you up on that offer - although I did see an ED30 for sale at a dealer in Keston at the weekend that has worse and made me feel better! Although the detailing was great, the stone chips are the same, just cleaner!
