Quick question regarding rns510
« on: April 29, 2010, 07:07:38 pm »
Hi guys

Is it easier to retro-fit this unit in a mk5 that has the old sat nav system? Or can I just get a gti with a standard dash and fit it?
Thanks for your help

I did not have Sat Nav in mine and as i can see it would have been no easier to fit if i already had sat nav.  The only thing i had to was get it coded so it fully working with my highline computer.

Thanks for your reply. Did you get it done by an auto electrition or did you do it yourself? Because I'm useless at doing stuff like this and wouldn't know where to start!

I'm from saltaire just outside Bradford in west Yorkshire. Havnt bought a gti yet, I'm definatly getting one and I didn't know whether to get one with the old sat nav system in or whether to save a bit of money and get a standard dash. Thanks for replies guys.

If you have not got one yet it would be better to find one with the sat or at least the highline display and poss the multi function steering wheel.

I can help with fitting if that helps I'm in Leeds

This is a straight forward swap, although it will need coding and maybe a new can gateway depending on version number. Also, if you have a cd multi changer there are two wires that need swapping to get proper sound quality.
