Giac remapped today !
« on: May 01, 2010, 02:33:57 pm »
Anyway went back to star performance today for the final part of modding.
I had my jkm turbo discharge pipe fitted, s3 intercooler, revision D piston divertor valve, new front splitter and a giac remap !

everything went well and i got the usual great service from the guys down there, much recommended !

About 3 1/2 hours after dropping the car off jim (the main man) came, in to the waiting room with a big smile on his face and told me that the car goes really well, like "really well",  anyway i thought to my self ok, fine, paid my money, thanked him and left.
As soon as i got in the car and gave it a little tickle you could tell it wanted to fly but resisted until i hit the first motorway slip road then took it down to about 20 mph and burried the welly in to the pedal........... Jesus this think shifts, proper quick, very linear power delivery on the giac with large swells of midrange torque and relentless pulling power all the way, saying im happy is an understatment. Jim had to leave early, as i think he mentioned he was playing golf, so i didnt get a rolling road session with the map, but this didnt bother me as next week ill be fitting the ITG intake then hopefully the following week it will be going back in to star performance for the autotech fuel pump and rolling road session.

then thats it guys ill be hanging up the modding gloves, and start paying back my modding debt and enjoying the cracking car i have.

Oh ill get a couple of pics up of the splitter later tonight for your opinions im not sure if i like it, even if i dont, ill leave it on for a couple of weeks and see if it grows on me...

Jim is spot on, superb place to send your vag. His set up is amazing and always helpful (well been a couple of bad moods over the years) especially if he doesnt approve of your product but jim is top dawg great guy and its possible my s3 could be there for giac soon. What stage are you running gobble 300-ish bhp?

yea jim is a good guy, pretty funny, he told me a few months ago that the itg was a good intake choice, so i bought one and then when i told him i was fitting it next week, he told me i should of went for forge !!! Although i suspect this is because he now stocks forge
He done all the work to my MK4 1.8T a few years ago and i was always really impressed. Great service. I seem to get good deals from him now too which is always good.

The giac remaps arent staged like revo, bluefin ect ect, its one map and the ecu is left to adapt to your new hardware. So no extra £50 fees from going to stage 2 and stage 2+. I understand that alot of people will thinking thats not very good as the new hardware wont be taken in to considderation if the car is mapped, but the giac coding an adaptive ecu will take care of this.

With such a big intake and exhaust giac recommend that the HPFP is fitted to ensure that fuel cuts will not happen.

Im running at the moment Giac pump map, s3 intercooler, OEM piston DV and Blueflame Zorst next week ill be chucking on the ITG from the group buy then it will be booked in to star for the autotech pump and dyno. Jim recons mine feels strong and i should be making 280+ BHP, remember im k03 though i think it should be around the 320 mark for a k04 with simelar mods .

I would be mightily impressed if you got 280+ mate, they would be cracking numbers for a KO3! Glad to see your enjoying it anyway! I will look forward to your results from the RR  :happy2:

Ooooops my bad 270+ mate, I'm not sure he was meaning with the pump file or race though, we will soon see anyway when I get it dynod, 260bhp and 300lb ft was my target anyway, so i am sure I'll be above that
