Right.....
Had to be down in Nice this weekend with work, so the plan was to visit Monaco yesterday for the quali and go today on race day anyway didn't make it yesterday and we had an early standby this morning, so long story short made it to the afternoons racing this afty.
Cut a long story short managed to get one over on a ticket tout and got some tickets with hospitality for 40 Euro (Grandstand price 35 Euro) all you could eat and drink on a third floor balcony right on top of saint devotte the first corner at the end of the pit straight
So 1st race was rear engine grandprix cars 1963-70 even though these cars are worth literally millions BTCC move over and eat your heart out, brabhams, ferrari's, maserati the sounds were just exhilarating
2nd race was F1 cars 1970-1974 these were the ground effect cars names like tyrell, hesketh slugging it out in these DVF powered beauties
3rd race was F1 cars 74-78, it was simply awesome to see names like Halvoline , John Player Special, STP, Saudia on thesides of these cars.
I thinks its every two years but to experience race day at Monaco without all the bullsh*t that the F1 circus brings was just awesome, I'll probably be there on the 14th but I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as today. Seeing and hearing a Nigel Mansell lotus being done by a Niki Lauda Ferrari 312T3 oversteering on the way up the hill to casino square was a sight that will be with me for a long time, the race was eventually won by a guy in James Hunt's Mclaren.
I recorded all three starts with a superb race down to the first corner in all three - the sound was incredible I'll load em up when I get home
