Michelin Pilot Sport 3
pat15312:
i have had these on a 'roc as well as PS2...
the PS3 are notably better than PS2 in the wet, not much in it in the dry tbh

I'm getting 2 of these on the front axle leave ing two gyf1s on the rear....I'm fed up with the f1's seeming eagerness to side wall bulge. I think I have replaced 3 from the front in the past 2 years, hence why I am leaving the f1's on the rear......I just don't trust them not to go within a short time. I avoid potholes with an obsessive passion, so I am not sure that this damage was ever caused by pothole damage. In 2 years I haven't had to replace any from the rear......
Anyhoo, back on topic....ps3's will be fitted today I'm buying 2 today from Costco at £140 a corner. Then hopefully the other two when the f1s give up on the rear. :star:

Costco refused to put the new ones on the front....it's policy apparently and they showed me a video of what can happen if they don't :jumping: so for now I've got me ps3's on the rear axle and two gy f1's on the front with bags of tread....there is something different with the car I can notice it but not sure that I have the words/ experience to describe it. It is quieter I think and more assured.
Hopefully the f1's on the front won't sidde wall bulge for a while but if they do i have a good replacement in my garage ready to go. Costs =£282.
Sooo theres me tootling back to work, post Costco....BONG! yes youve guessed it tyre sensor....
fronts at 21 and 34, one rear at 39...one rear at 35. WHAT DO YOU PAY THESE MUPPETS FOR!!!! GRRRRssss

What's stopping you from jacking up the car and swapping them round?

^^^Nothing really.... may do so at the weekend.
I think that the approach from Costco is the preferred one (having seen that video)...however I think that more relates to tyres that are heavily worn, the theory is that if you all of a sudden have more grip on the front than the rear...your car handles differently to the way you'd expect and the back end can tail out...(or something).
In my case my rears have loads of tread on, so I dont think that this is any danger.
Having inflated all round now to 36, I am delighted to report that the ps3's seem to be providing a more assured ride (that said, how much it is to do with the newer assymetrics now on the front, I don't know).....
Hopefully the mich's will last a little bit longer than the GY's.....
