animal's MkV...
« on: May 04, 2010, 11:45:02 pm »
So after a long time doing my research (mostly here), shopping around and not being able to find the spec/colour I wanted I decided against a GTI and will be picking this up on Saturday...

More or less fully loaded with a few choice mods to follow in due course

I've always wanted an R32 and as much as I will always have a soft spot for the original, I couldn't bring myself to spend a fair wedge on a car that is the same as age as the one it's replacing. I test drove a few MkV's and loved the more refined ride and more modern interior. So I decided what the hell, time to scratch that itch!

I also blame Evo magazine. One of their writers has recently bought a V6 Clio. By his own admission, it's a stupid car: A handful and expensive to run but he loves it and he's always wanted one. This really struck a chord with me, so I decided to ignore the £400+ a year tax and fuel economy and went with my heart not my head!
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Mile-muncher ordered: MkVI 1.6 TDi BlueMotion Match DSG with leather, winter pack, luxury pack, fogs, climate control, Dynaudio pack, RCD510 with DAB & MDI, flat tyre indicator

I had a feeling you'd both approve.

It's in need of an RNS-510 (I think I've lucked-out one the factory stereo - it's got a non-Mp3 RCD-300, which I thought were standard?), 18" OEM Omanyts and some vinyl here and there but otherwise I dont have big plans.

Heated leather Recaros FTW!  :happy2:

Zorst - yes, Blueflame or Miltek (not decided yet)
Intake - unlikely, probably will just go for a decent panel filter but I intend to call ITG too see if the new Maxogen will fit
Shortshift - No need my son - DSG FTW! Will be remapping that though  :happy2:

I do plan to remap the ECU too - not for the small power gain but the for improved power delivery and throttle response. I'm waiting to see how Custom Code's VVT Attack performs on an 'impartial' dyno. If their claims are proven to be true, I shall heading to JBS for their ECU and DSG remap package. Failing that, it's off to C2 just up the road in Basingstoke.

Cheers - I like it because it's not blue. As much as I love the colour, most boy-racers/chavs knows that DBP=R32 and I could do with out the attention. In silver, debadged, it's much more discreet - until I open the taps. I'm happy for people just to think it's 'just' a Golf

Who has the R32 with the wrapped grille and BBS CH's?

EDIT: mikebgti, the nicest looking R32 I have seen. Black wrapped grill totally transforms it imo.

I am interested to see how mapped cars dyno especially at Surrey RR as I think its a very accurate dyno.

As for Milltek and EVOMS I can demo those.

Matte black grill and wing mirror wrap is practically top of my list! Should suit a silver car too.
