when switch on the stalk is set to on, it brings the green light on the dash and stays on until you until you move the switch to off.

Errr?

If i switch cruise "on" with the stalk by sliding the little switch then no light appears. If i press "Set" to set the cruise to the current speed, it will turn on the cruise control and the green light will appear. If i put the clutch in/brake then the light goes out. VW fitted my cruise.
