Retro Fitting Heating For Seats
« on: July 05, 2010, 08:55:55 pm »
Please, please please can someone help?!  I'm close to taking the plunge and joining the Mk V "club" for the first time by buying a 5dr DSG.  The car ticks all the boxes except for heated seats, which I really want/need.

My questions are:

1.  Is it a realistic conversion?

2.  What do I need to buy to complete the conversion?  (It's a leather seat, so does it just require a loom having already got the
     elements in place?)

2.  Where can I buy what I need - inc. switch control module?

3.  Has anyone done it?  Could it make a mess of carpets and seats?

4. Where might I get it fitted?  (I'm in the Glasgow area).

Thanks for all your help. (Please be gentle - I'm a first timer!).

Cheers.

look under the seats, if it's a pre 06 model there is a black box under aech seat, post 06 only black box under one seat.

If the boxes are there the seats are prebuild for heating, if not you got a big job ahead of you.

you will need this:

and maybe clima panel with buttons for heated seats

Have fun  :happy2:

Hi,

Thanks for replying.  It's actually an 06 model so I'll check.  To clarify, are you saying it's a big job if there is only one box under either seat or is it only a big job if there is no box at all?

Thanks.

05 should have 2 black boxes, one under each seat, then the heated seat are present  :happy2:

would it not be easier to buy an ed30 interior when one comes up? do you still need these black boxes of joy?
