Lee, I have the alternative problem to you my dealer could only find one with a cloth top not the leather one.  So I have been searching for a leather top, do you fancy doing a swap cloth for leather then we only have to each pay postage?

PM me if your interested, im based Southeast london if that will help with a swap?

Theres a good guide to install here

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=da&u=http://vwfanatic.dk/Tips/G5Armlaen.html&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3D1K0%2B863%2B323A%2B71N%26hl%3Den%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_ENUK276%26sa%3DG%26pwst%3D1

I followed it and the only nightmare was fitting the air duct

Bloody brilliant, - thanks for link.

I eventually fitted it on yesterday, OMG how fiddley? I ended up removing the rear air vent ducting from the new arm rest frame, when I purchased the kit I was advised to purchase another ducting pipe which turned out to be the wrong one, I need the one which split's into two and runs around the gear lever.
So another GTi with decorative rear air vents!!!

Oh and a GTi driver with grazed knuckles!

Lee,

If you can hang on thill tomorrow, I will post up some pics of my install which Greenous and Stevep helped with. I don't think you need to change the other duct. But just the one under the CD Changer.

I will ty and get them up first thing tomorrow morning.  :happy2:
Cheers,

Wayne

Lee

Here you go.

The Arm Rest assembly housing has been removed, what a ballache this was.

View from the back looking forward

The heating/Air con vent is visble bottom left of the centre console on front of the hand brake.

Centre arm rest assembly

The air duct needs to inserted inside here before you put it all back together again as otherwise you will not get the airduct into the assembly once it's back in the car.

Air ducts, non CD player and CD player versions.

The Arm Rest CD player version is the thinner one on the left.

The two versions of the Arm rest console.

No need to remove the screws, on the underside of the leather/cloth top pull on the plastic cover from the hinged edge, it will pop off. Then its a case of easing the cover off the arm, again start at one end and it will pop off.

Do all the CD changer armrests have the cut-out at the front for the 3.5mm Aux-In?
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Mile-muncher ordered: MkVI 1.6 TDi BlueMotion Match DSG with leather, winter pack, luxury pack, fogs, climate control, Dynaudio pack, RCD510 with DAB & MDI, flat tyre indicator

No, I wanted the cut out as I have the Aux socket in my old arm rest.

Any chance you could confirm the part number on the underside of that leather arm rest for me yellow?  The photo is a bit blurry, I have a cloth top on mine with leather interior, garage I bought it from failed on numerous occasions to find the correct part!
