Watch out, here he comes!
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:26:04 pm »

Haven't posted on here for while, well since I departed with my ED30.

As I'd said before I'd bought an Abarth 500, which I'd planned to have a few mods done to which I'm gonna tell you all about as I'm excited and I reckon it'll give  few of you a run for your money.

Norman is going for some surgery next Wednesday.  He is having an uprated Hybrid turbo fitted and an Itg cold air intake which has just been developed for the Abarth, so mine should be the first production version.  This will be combined with some live remapping and then paired up with a milltek shortly after and re-tweaked.

I've been told to expect a conservative 220 bhp and that in a car weighing a ton :driver:  so watch out. :happy2:

Has nice has the car is :happy2: I still don't think it would have a chance against an Eddy 30 :P but I could be swayed to change my mind if I see it happen :notworthy:

Just a quick note, The original ECU cannot be 'live mapped' in any way whatsoever, even with an emulator. The boot mode ( a state that you put the ecu into to allow reading/writing of map files)  is stored within the ECU itself and cannot be accessed with the engine running.

Custom mapped and tweaked to the car is what I was trying to say. I appreciate you correcting me , perhaps unnecessary but hey ho!

.

Yeah,  there's a few different setups being trialled by other ABarth owners asthis is a bit of a weakness in the car. I'm waiting to see how these turn out before I commit to one. A lot of developements happening with the abarth. I know of one guy who's running 280bhp. Tuners have really taken to them.

Quick update on the work so far, the new turbo has been installed and now the mapping is being carried out.  The spring on the modified wastegate actuator was too stiff and did not work well with the initial tests using the tuning box I had so this was temporarily replaced with the standard one.

After a day spent mapping and tweaking the uprated actuator is going back on again.  The car is currently only running an ITG panel filter as the ITG intake production model is still being finalised and tested on the rolling road for proven gains before it is sold.

The car has been RR'd on a hub dyno and is currently giving 180bhp and 320 nm of torque, with the continued mapping tweaking and addition of the actuator and intake I've been told to expect an additional 25 or so bhp, boosting and holding longer at 1.4 bar and reaching 1.5 bar on overboost.  And all this form a car weighing just over 1000kg and with a 1.4 engine. :driver:
