Convert iPod connection to MDI?
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:04:10 am »
I currently have the cheaper version of the iPod prep that is just the cable loose in the glove box. Is it possible to swap this cable for the glove box mounted USB/MDI connection? Head-unit is currently an RCD-300.

Thanks.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Mile-muncher ordered: MkVI 1.6 TDi BlueMotion Match DSG with leather, winter pack, luxury pack, fogs, climate control, Dynaudio pack, RCD510 with DAB & MDI, flat tyre indicator

Don't believe the RCD300 is MDI compatible

Although not fully compatible in the way the RNS-510 is, I was under the impression you could have basic MP3 playback via the USB input? The head unit sees the USB stick as a CD multichanger.

I'd like to know if it's a direct swap with the iPod connector?

Thats not the MDI animal, thats a USB adapter (dont quote me but I believe its an audi part) and there is one on ebay at the moment.  Not sure what wiring it used, but if it behaves like a cd chnager then its probably the older wiring same as 6 cd.  As are the old school ipod adapters.

I know there is an adaptor for the ipod but as said I think its an Audi item.
