Playstation 3 - Disc load question

Driving me mental but when I leave a disc in my Playsation 3 (from last play) and turn it on, it doesn't auto load the (game) disc in the tray.

I've looked round the menu but not found it relevant to loading on on bootup'.
Is there a setting for this chaps?

I don't know whether its possible anymore it used to work on my old 60gb but not on the new slim PS3s. Think its the updates or firmware 3.00 that as caused it. Thats what people are saying on PS3 forums.

In system setting turning " Display (whats new)" OFF and "disc auto start " ON then its only "X" to start the game.

I know its not a proper fix but as close as i can get.

Thanks Matt, that's a good workaround imo 

Seems the functionality between the different PS3 release builds differs massively and I can't find any of it documented anywhere?
