DSG or not DSG

The Cupra isnt available with DSG but other models of leon are.

Is it possible to retro fit Dsg to a non Dsg car???  I assume it would be costly if so

Yes it is possible i believe.   Has Monk still not got a Ko 4 + Dsg engine knocking about for sale.  

Probably cheaper to do the whole transplant if he has.

Just for info guys, the Seat Leon Cupra cup car has DSG box in, so must be a goer, they also run standard blocks etc.
There are race teams all over europe and the uk with these cars, may be worth trying to get hold of them for info, i also believe the DSG boxes they run are with a map giving stronger launch control function and pit limiter mode as well.

It will depend on the loom they use in the Cupra. If the loom doesn't have the functional capacity for the DSG built in then it would mean a new loom = costly. I'll look into this tomorrow for you Mike.

What makes up the system?

ECUs? Looms? Is it heavily intergrated with the engine ecu?  Best to buy engine box & wiring complete from a tfsi dsg car?

I estimate id get £1500 for my Tfsi That should buy a dsg ready motor (if needed) and £800 for a box.  Alot of cost I think would be extra electronics, programming, labour & associated parts (gearstick & centre console, steering wheel, flappy paddles etc etc)

I cant imagine they will have a different wiring loom from the FR to the Cupra, so would imagine a TFSI and DSG should slot in nicely.

Do Audi do a 7 speed transverse DSG that can handle some decent power?  That would be an interesting car if you were doing the change.
