advice please
« on: May 11, 2010, 07:11:19 pm »
hey all, been looking into getting a camera for a while now but never got around to it, however my mrs's boss has offered me a casio exilim pro f1 camera, is this a good camera for a novice or will it be too much to get started with?
cheers, Southy

It's a very good camera and if you're a novice simply use it on auto mode as you pick up your knowledge.  One thing i would say is think carefully about your usage.  These cameras are pretty bulky and as good as they can be, i find a more compact camera much more useful as i can carry it around with me.  I had an SLR for a while but because it was so bulky, i never took it anywhere with me so I sold it and bought a panasonic lumix TZ65 and it's turning out far better for me

I honestly depends what you want it for mate. The benfits of an SLR are it gives you much better control for shooting and you can upgrade as you go. Downsides are as mentioned they can be a bit bulky.

have a look here for some examples of what can be done with a DSLR.
