CSL FTW for me Mat. As great a car as the Porker is, if I bought a early 996 I would feel to much like someone who has remortgaged their house to get there first Porche now that the prices on them are within reach (just).
Thankfully you're a petrolhead that will be buying it for what it is and it's capabilities. But that are quite a few early 996s turning up round our way with owners who have bought them solely as a driveway ornament/status symbol rather for what they are all about..
CSL is just different and knowing how much you like your track days etc, IMO would be ideal. Especially with a little one to think of too. The 996 may have back seats (as such), but once the liitle un's legs start to grow a few inches......
