....As I only have them on the rear axle it's more difficult to meaningfully assess so far. Contrary to many other people's findings/opinions, I have never felt that the Dunlop Sports Maxx (also asymmetric) were inadequate. I had GY Eagle F1 v1's previously and only got the Dunlops because I needed tyre tread for a Nurburgring trip and there was a production shortage of F1 v1's. Goodyear Dunlop are the same group company and I was advised by their tyre guy at a BTCC meet that they were safe to mix.
I was totally satisfied with the F1 v1's and am equally confident in the v2's. I think that tyres are usually easier to assess when on the front of a FWD car but, put it this way, my rear doesn't feel in the least unstable and I expect that their combination with my S3 rear brakes helps when braking hard.
TBH Robin, I must agree with you about the Dunplops!
I bought my 19" Ultraleggera's with new Dunlops already fitted. I did plan on swapping them for my part worn Conti's that were on my Monza's, but the ride is really good
I understand that it could have alot to do with the wheels, but so far I'm really impressed with the tyre grip, and the rim protection is alot better than the Conti's.
I doubt I will buy Dunlops again, but I'm gonna stick with this set, for now.
