First one was fitted, powered up and then turned itself off! VW had another in the dealership as it was due to go into someone elses car later that week. They stuck that in mine as they could order another one for the other car. That one was fine - for a couple of weeks then it started switching itself off and on randomly, until it finally gave up the ghost and stopped working altogether. VW then replaced that one a month back and touch wood, it's been fine!!

Are you hooking up an ipod connection to it? If so make sure the USB socket is easily reachable as you can only upload speed cams (from pocket gps) or other software updates via USB.  :happy2:

Is it made in China :P

Not planning on hooking up an iPod connection but did read that the USB is on the rear and is need for a few things. Can I just plug a USB extension cable in to it and leave it in the glovebox?

Yep, thats what I've done now. I've got the ipod lead which connects to the female USB connector as it's integrated into the unit (if that makes sense), so you will just be able to run it from the back through to the glove box. Annoyingly VW didnt do this, they just routed the ipod connection through the glove box with the USB socket right behind the head unit, so I had to dismantle the dash to get into the back of the head unit and pull the cable through myself. Means I can just unplug the ipod and plug in my USB stick when I need to update.

Oh, I love these ebay specials. The way they scatter their illegal output everywhere, indiscriminately blinding oncoming drivers is mightily impressive...

They are just bulbs... not HIDS.

They're 100W according to the packaging, that means they are not street legal...

They might be the 55W bulbs which give off 100W. The camera flash has made it a bit unclear.

I have these which are 55W but give off 100W and are street legal:

The Mrs has just bought me a few little things...

Just been fitted for a new driver and ended up with a Cobra AMP Cell in red.....

Tested all the current new drivers and this came out the best for my swing. Was going LONG and arrow straight

She also bought me a new watch! IWC classic

Shame its a copy, but still fantastic quality for what I want  :happy2:

I new fear that she wants something in return  :scared:
