Just wasn't getting on with the Mercedes. Sold it this afternoon, lost more than i had hoped but thats the way it goes.

Needs:
VCDS lead (should never have sold mine)
Satnav retrofit
Evening Anthony - no hanging about there then Merc out MKVII in!
Looking forward to your build thread and pictures of the new motor - I was under the impression the MKVII's have a locked gateway so retro fitting the SatNav wasn't possible. I think they call "build protection security"?
It can be unlocked in a VW dealership, AFAIK. It needs to be connected to the VW system.
Wasn't that the idea of Odis2 - your built vehicle is cradle to grave so the cost of recycling is all what you predicted.

I have no idea, now you've lost me with that.

I have a friend who retrofitted xenons to his mk7 and he needed to go to a VW dealership to have the BCM "unlocked" to accept the coding bit that came with the retrofit kit.

Hmm, I see what you mean.

I'll check with my friend who knows a lot about retrofits (and did most of my interior retrofits) to explain to me better how the new system works. He also retroffited the xenons to my other friend with the mk7 and told him he needed to go to a VW dealership to activate the xenons. The kit came with a bit that coded the BCM correctly with the xenons, but it only worked well after the car being connected to the VW system.

For the less knowledgeable, it's a wiper arm puller for seized arms.

My friend who knows how to do retrofits installed xenon headlights in another friends Golf mk7. He told me that this generation needs to be connected to VW's database to receive the original factory definitions to make new modules installed work.

Not sure if this applies to radios...

At last BT have upgraded me to fibre, FTTP no less. I went for the 76mbps service, so after ditching the BT hub and going direct into my apple router's I thought I'd run a speed test over wifi on my mac sat at the kitchen table - I'm impressed
