Well that drive was £400

I had a 500gb 7200rpm drive in before that. I can guarantee you that SSD will wipe the floor with any HDD.

The guy obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Ask him to show you a HDD that will Saturate a SATA II connection. This SSD won't perform at its stated speed as it is SATA III (but backwards compatible). It's capable of read speeds of 550mb/sec and 520mb/sec write speed. I'm my MBP with SATA II it will perform at around 285mb/sec for both. Still way way faster than any HDD

What Carl said, Solid State Drives are Super quick, way quicker than the old HDD.

i use a SSD for my windows files and keep files and games on the cheaper 7200 HDD

The way I looked at it was £400 now and have a super quick MBP for a few years or pay £1500-1800 every couple of years for a new MBP to keep pace.

I know Solid state is tres cool.

Was talking to local computer shop other week and he suggested unless spending mega bucks you're not going to match a high performance HDD?

Germany is generally alot more expensive though.

Are SSD coming down in price now?

yeah they are

Yep, those SSD's are super quick. I got a free 27" iMac with my SSD

My most recent purchase is an Olivin pistol grip / mini tripod combi for my compact camera.

^^^Pics please, plus source and review. Am after a minitripod for my G12.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

....Here you go:

^ They're designed mostly for binoculars/monoculars but will support a small camera. Very steadying and lightweight to carry. I don't think that the tripod function would be much good on a full size DSLR. Perfect for a compact, and in pistol grip mode it makes the smaller camera controls much easier: Pistol grip firmly in left hand and right hand free for all controls (assuming you're right handed). Cost about £20. I got mine from someone I know who specialises in binoculars, scopes, camouflage gear etc.

Hmmm...I'm debating whether I need a head with a spirit level or not. It can be difficult to judge a flat surface sometimes. How big is it in comparison to your camera? Pocketable? I've heard some negative reviews about gorillapods.
