I really do wish that folks would bother to say what it is that they have recently purchased. All I can see is that it's a USB computer peripheral - Why should it be assumed that everyone knows what it is?

Using the power of the Internetz I found this. http://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/

By the way it's not a USB computer peripheral as it doesn't have any USB ports.

A Guardsman bird box with Colour video camcorder built in. Comes with 40 metres of USB cable, an interior light etc etc. and just plugs into your puter or lappy to view. Apparently you can attract different kinds of birds by positioning the "hole" in different positions??

I have to puts it up now so the birds can start "Househunting" according to the instructions.

iPhone pic....

cool items these if you like watching the birds, can you actually record on this one so you can playback for activity  :happy2:
my brother in law has 2 set up also but the 40m cable is a bit of a nightmare tbh,,, having to tack it all the way to your comp aint fun.
you can actually buy a cable free version, runs with a usb Bluetooth dongle with 20 metre range though, does mean you have to power the outside box though and I guess would only be better if you have outside sockets but I wouldn't be able to run a usb lead into my house without drilling a hole somewhere as the cable is pretty thick.
good luck in finding a family of birds,
would you have the ability to post a still pic or something if any use the house ?
would be a cool follow up

At first glance & skim read I thought the camera was concealed in the bird box as a security camera

That Gardsman nest box is pretty cool. Yes, glory-hole entry-hole position will make a difference due to altering the depth of the bottom of the nest from the entry and so attracting different species. But the size of the hole is also important regarding which species will be interested in adopting it. Robin prefer open fronted nest boxes.

What's even more important to birds is the feeling of security from predators and also other birds. Make sure that any local cats learn that they are extremely unwelcome on your property. So you are probably looking at least 15ft off the ground and with the entry not facing into strong winds.

I hope you'll share what happens - Bird porn?

I deliberately concealed the name to let people guess. It's always fun to guess.

Usually.

....How does one know if one is interested without having been given even a small clue as to what it is? And then what would someone write in Google's Search field?

I mistook the port for a USB port as I looked at it in haste because there was nothing to hold my interest but only something to arouse my idle curiosity.

I thought that one of the fundamental things which makes this forum community great was everyone being helpful to each other.

Ipad 4 for her (as much as i really didnt want to) And not yet purchased but the second they are in stock a nexus 10 for me!
was going to buy an I pad for the wife and also use it for my 3 year old to play games on its just the cost tbh, in order to hold a couple of movies for travelling etc I decided I needed the 64gb one and would also need it for internet so it would have to be the dearest one at £650 or so.
then there is the minimum of £10 per month for the internet use through the sim card,,, and that's before any software purchases / games etc.
seems a lot of money tbh.
I bought my 6yr old a ds but it is a bit much for my 3yr old as they only sell the 3d one now and no child under 7yrs old should use the 3d function,,,, I know you can turn the 3d off but he will prob just turn it on again.
there is little game machines in toys r us etc but they are just really leap frog ones and the games are very limited etc.
good purchase for the wife though  :happy2:
