Robin. I've got a canon 5Dii which lives in the cupboard. Just don't have time to use it at the moment. Too busy with work.

....Worth hanging onto though because a time for using it will probably come. I haven't seen any of your pics recently (except one for the forum calendar) but I have always been greatly impressed by your attention to detail and image quality. A flying Gannet comes to mind IIRC.

I shot this one yesterday with my Canon 7D Mark II - It won't match the quality of full-frame 5D's etc but it's possibly better for wildlife and action photography. When I say 'better' I probably mean 'easier'!

Tom TopCat has really made progress with his photography and is currently very focussed on the macro world. I think he uses a 5D3 and also Ian @Hedge ?

Thanks, £280 used from eBay. They have BBS embossed on them but don't know if they're genuine.

After struggling to get on with the G16 I bought before going on leave and realising I am a full frame whore I ended up buying a Canon 6D from a photograph store not far from where we are staying. With Double cash back Canon are offering in Oz and reclaiming the GST at the airport the camera will be nearly £600 cheaper than what you would expect to pay in the UK. The camera and lens come with a 12 month seller warranty should anything go wrong.

And I could figure out how to resize a photo with the photo bucket App I would be a happy bunny!

....The Canon 6D has a good reputation. And once you have bought into a well established DSLR system like Canon or Nikon, there are so many options. Plus the user interface is common to most of the bodies so that a future change is relatively easy. depending what you like to photograph you don't necessarily need to change. I hope you enjoy it  :happy2:

Bought this on pre-order a few weeks ago - A no-brainer for me as a wildlife photographer (amateur) and sold my much loved Canon 70D to help fund it and because I don't need two camera bodies.

You flash git....

....Yep, you know me Rich - I have always been a flash git. IIRC you shoot Nikon? I'm really enjoying this Canon 7D2 but there is still a learning curve.

Cheers RR. I have been a 5D MK2 user for a while but Canon couldn't get it back to me (out for a service) in time for my trip to Oz so i bought the 6D out here :)

Why could t you get on with the G16?

....Cameras like the G16 are good but are very limited when you enjoy what a DSLR system offers you.

It's simply a matter of what you personally feel most comfortable using. And perhaps your available funds!

The G16 is certainly a capable camera but as i mainly shoot with a Full frame DSLR i found the transition a difficult one. Also with the current Oz-Sterling exchange rate, double cash back Canon Australia are offering and claiming back GST at the airport buying a camera out here is stupidly cheap. The only complication was i had to open a Australian bank account to qualify for the cash back but that took 10 minutes to do :)

The G16 is going to be put on eBay when i get home on Saturday :)

Very arty. How was Sydney? There was a plague of flies when I went which made it hard to enjoy myself because they were crawling all over my face whenever I was outside and I couldn't find a single shop selling those hats with corks on!

Sydney was excellent but i'm not sure if i would go back. We went to Cairns further up the east coast in QLD a couple of years a go and that was more enjoyable mainly as there was so much more unique stuff to see and do. Sydney is also damn expensive - you would be lucky to get (outside of happy hour) a pint of the local lager or Ale for less than £6 and a bottle of white in a bottle shop was at least £12!

Don't get me wrong i love Sydney but maybe two weeks was too much.
