Correct Orientation For Ball joints on wishbones?
geordie56:
Hi, as above could someone tell me from the pics below if the ball joints go on the underside of the wisbone and bolt in place or the top side? I am assuming the top side due to the serrated edge on the ball joints to clamp in position on the wishbones better. Cheers in advance.

not sure on your question, but are you missing the locking plates for the ball joints. when i went to Audi(in germany) the schematic on the computer screen showed a locking plate between the ball joint and wishbone
Ball Joint Lock Plates
amount required= 2 total, 1 each side
Part number= 8J0 407 175 (176)
im presuming you could get slip on those ball joints if you corner hard enough without the lock plate

No, the lock plate is there and fitted. It is part or the 3 studs that connect it all. All i am asking is do the ball joints go on the top face or the bottom face of the wishbone? Im assuming bottom, so the serrated adge on the ball joint locks against the wishbone when tightened.

pop a thread up in the general sub forum, and ask for someone to post up an expanded schematic diagram of the lower control arm etc from etka.
that should show you whether it will go above or below.
how much did you pat for the setup though, and i you fancy it, im sure alot of guys would appreciate a review in the product review section. they layout is simle enough to follow :happy2:
danishmkvgti:
the ball joints are below the control arms, with the bolts to be fitted from the top down :happy2:
