Got to be worth a look. Used to be in the trade and my passion for a old Golf was well known. Was always being offered minters that belonged to family or a friends friend and were silly cheap. Almost all where sheds expect a Series one, 1 owner Mk1 with 14k on the clock that now resides in my garage

im an old RS fan boy had loads. Heres a piccie of my last S1

It sounds as if its a steal @£3k and imo i would snap his hand off. Rust as Moschops states is the biggest worry, parts are like rocking horse sh*t and genuine parts forget it, they fetch telephone numbers now. If that guy knew what he had and its a straight genuine car I'm telling you that is worth £10k to the right person. The car pictured above has 23k on it and is factory fresh. I sold it a good few years ago for £7.5k to a friend. He still has it and has recently been offered £15k for it but he wont sell it!!!!

In my eyes one of the best most iconic cars, period. Wish you local and i would be crawling all over it with you to make sure its 100% GOR FOR IT, even if you dont want to keep it I bet you could double your money on it!!!!!!!!

@ Moschops. Wasn't there something like 2 red and 5 black series 1 turbos made?  IRRC princess Diana used to own one of them ?

Now they must be like rocking horse poo... :surprised:

I think I'm the only guy on this forum who thinks that buying that RS is a waste of time (and money).

Hmm, you've got a glorious V6 R32 and a Landy.. Plus wifey has an Eos(?). What do you need another car for? [am having a 'dad' moment]

That yellow Mk1 Golf is a different story though!

Yes I think you are Robin (No offence.. :happy2:, Don't forget these cars have a history and pedigree to match, remember rallying in the late 70's and early 80's, Escort RS's, early touring cars, Escort Twin Cams (forerunners to the lengendary RS1600 and RS1800!!. They also have a cult following just like own beloved VW's...

I would have a MK1 RS2000 in Modena Green at the drop of a hat...

Gaz, there seems to be no "offical figures" for these rareties, but I thought it was 6 of each colour, 6 Sunburst Red, 6 Black, 1 Graphite Grey. There was also 2 Azure Blue (Cats Eyes) cars plus another that had been repainted, but the door shuts and under the bonnet were still white.. :stupid: The"official Cats Eye" car is dead, rotted away on some scottish island several years ago. The other one hasn't been seen in along while.

The Factory black ones also have Schwarz stamped into the Body Data plate on the slam panel too... :happy2:

Princess Di's car is alive and well and now in a collection, sold for well into £20k I believe :surprised:
