Got to say the MKVI does feel a nicer car to be in.

My dad's got a 1.4TSI but very well specced up.  Performance and seats aside, it looks and feels better quality than my GTI.

Mk6 Gti just feels a better place to be in terms of drive, noise and quality. The Ed30 was a great, and I mean GREAT car. But after a lengthy drive home, the mk5 is inferior in everyway compared to mk6. And I have owned two mk5's over the last five yrs. Just can't wait for the ed35.

i had a demo in the Mk6 and if i could have justified spending 26k on one then i would have, its a very nice car. I would have to have the cloth interior it looks soo much better than the leather

Like the look of the new MK6 Golf GTi.  I was glad to see that VW split the exhaust.....love that look on hot hatch/performance cars.

Hope you enjoy the new car!  :happy2:

......fair play to you. MK6 is growing on me BUT those rear lights just don't work for me.

The MY11 GTi will have the LED rears that the R presently comes with as standard...

I have to say that being able to drive my Ed30 and the wifes Mk6GTI back to back the MK6 feels much more positive on the turn into corners with less body roll (does have the adaptive dampers though  :happy2: ). The cabin is quieter too, but thats personal perference too.

Both great cars.   :driver:

Good to know your enjoying the new ride Paul.  :drinking:

That's interesting to hear! Why do the mags and in particular evo state the mk6 lost it's edge and the mk5 is more of a raw
drivers car?

I don't know, I seem to remember Evo saying the MKVI was much sharper than the MKV. I don't think there was any accusation that it had softened up...
