Which oil for Eddies?
« on: March 21, 2010, 11:51:25 pm »
Haven't got the car yet, but am going to buy some of the VW longlife oil.

What kind please?

TIA

Vw 5.04 00/507 00 longlife III synthetic oil Castrol or Quantum

Best bet is buy 5 litres for £34 at dealers or pay £14 for 1 litre :stupid:

I'd just get the filter from VW, for what they cost you'll know your getting a genuine part as appose to for example a GSF derivative.

Just my 2p but I wouldn't touch anything other than OEM with regards to filters.

Cheers Snapey.

Are the filters the same for the standard GTI and Edition 30?

As far as I'm aware. I haven't got the part number to hand but I can find it out later.

All you need to ask for is the oil filter element and ensure that the new o-ring is present before you take it.

Think off the top of my head it's about £6 but I brought the last one about 6 months ago.

Cheers Steve.

This stuff aye? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Volkswagen-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Longlife-3-Oil-5W30_W0QQitemZ260572859852QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3cab5a4dcc
Jesus thats cheap, thats the stuff on Vw's own shelves!!
The reason that Quantum stuff is cheap is because it is NOT as good as say Castrol Edge 504.00.

Quantum brews should NOT be recommended for an Ed30 . . .
