Helicopter landed at work!
« on: May 25, 2010, 11:54:07 pm »
I work near an MOD base so helicopters flying by aren't really unusual. However from our laboratory I could hear one hovering and thought it was setting down in a field next to us... wrong, it set down on our test track!  :surprised:
Was carrying a visitor to our facility.

Luckily I had my camera with me and moseyed down to take some pics. The helo is an Augusta 109C, apparently.

These pitot tubes seem very insectile.

Paint was this cool blue metallic colour.

More insect-ish features.

Useful maps wedged in the cockpit

Pilot let me have a good look 'round.

And then he flew away, taking the visitors from whence they came :P

Cheers Robin!  :happy2:

@TFSI Mike, Apaches are cool! We mostly have Chinooks flying around here, Apaches are much more rare, and certainly none have set down by us! Where was that series of pics taken?
