Mini 1275 Clubman - Meet your iconic brothers
« on: May 26, 2010, 10:45:32 am »
Hey there guys

So two or so months ago I picked this little gem up. A 1982 Mini 1275 Clubman.

She is a fantastic car. Amazing feedback, performance and a real attention grabber.

She does need a bit of work though... Needs a disc brake conversion as the drums are not allowed on the track and they are useless. She needs a good engine overhaul, wiring needs to be redone as half the buttons dont work. She needs to have her rims refurbed as they have some intense white worm. She has audio but not headunit. She needs new bushes etc for steering and she needs to be raised a bit... The list goes on.

Please excuse the JCW in the pics. Its my friends car and we felt we needed a shoot.

Le pics!

Hope you like em!

I was going to get a MK2 or MK3 GTI but the insurance was raping me as those two cars are classified as performance cars... We are talking monumental amounts. Besides that the Mini bug has bitten me hard. I love them

Proper big time jealousy - over both cars in fact.

Hey guys

Thank you for the comments.

The door numbers were on the car when I bought it. I debated removing them but at the time the paint was only 3 weeks old and the previous owner said not to try because it may damage the paint. However time as passed and I love the numbers now.

The JCW is something else... We did a few sprint races with the cars (I cooked my brake fluid whilst at it) and it was amazing to see how well my baby at times kept up and also struggled to keep up with its big bro. Having driven the JCW I find it a bit too manic but also a whole lot of fun.

There is a huge amount I want to do to the car. Cashflow issues unfortunately dont help.

I paid the equivelant of 3300 pounds for her.

Cars are expensive but not too bad... MK6 GTI Full House is about 29 000 pounds.

So not too bad. Our prices are good but still expensive as I have been told that your average South African earns less then say your average Australian or British person. That said... Our cops and traffic officers use "Ghost" MK6 GTI's and even normal MK5 and MK6 GTI's and BMW 330i's as their vehicles.

Mike that is stunning  :congrats: :congrats:

I kind of missed the Mini thing when I passed my test as I had an MG Metro but was always keen on them as I worked in a Mini shop during the summer holidays and my cousin also had a 1275GT.

Stunning car, and in my opinion makes the newer Mini look lardy and bland!  :happy2:

Thank you guys...

So...

She may be going up for sale tonight.

I have finally found a Audi A4 Avant 1.8T Facelift (B5) in amazing condition... For less the what I paid for this car.

Very tempted to return to civilisation ....

Choices  :sad1:
