There's been loads of these types of attacks on paramedics/ambulances in the last few years. I think that impeding an emergency service should result in imprisonment.

Yep, and I've experienced it first hand.  It's most verbal abuse but I have been assaulted a few times too.  Last Friday I had to withdraw from an address and wait for an ambulance crew (I work alone on a rapid response vehicle) and police back up because my patient was starting to get  abusive and aggressive and there was a knife on the floor within reaching distance.  Not that he needed the ambulance anyway because he's had his particular problem for three flippin years :fighting:

They should be taken and given a hiding to within an inch of their lives. Then made to walk to hospital with the words "sorry you broke the air ambulance" ringing in their ears.

I just cannot understand why anyone would attack an ambulance/fire service, or the police. What thought must be going through their stupid, intoxicated, drug-addled mind when they decide it would be a laugh to hang off a rescue helo or be aggressive to a medic?

It is just beyond comprehension.
