Almost stalling on idle

Tonight when I started her up she started stuttering and almost stalling on idle, seems
fine at speed on the motorway and cruises
fine... However like a diesel on idle??

Could this be a sensor or maybe the diverted system?

Do you get a small hissing sound from the engine when you shut down?? under the airbox?

Possible Blown PCV. Mine done the exact same.

Pressure check valve on the engine Breather, stablize's the crankcase pressure inside the engine. If thats blown, then engine wont idle smoothly.

Where is this located ?

Is there anything obvious I could see / hear that would pin point this as the problem ?

Any idea how much these are ?

Funny, I did notice the DV for the first time the other day... is it normally heard...?
(It was on a fairly quiet street with walls either side)..

It's located under the airbox, if you find threads on the catch can kit,it should show you photo's on the pcv. Had to change mine recently.around £30 from memory.Mine done the same as yours has .

Out of interest Steve do you know the part number for the PCV valve? Guessing you had the latest revision?

Need to replace mine as it seems to be purging quite a bit on idle. Could do with getting the new seal and connection pipe between the unit and inlet manifold while I'm at it.

Is that the part number for the 2.0 turbo Fsi?
I was quoted ~£55 when I ordered one on Friday!
I just asked for a PCV for a MK5 Gti.....

You could go directly for the BSH PCV fix system.

Dubtek on here is a trader and supplies them. £65 ish delivered....and you don't have to worry about the PCV blowing or leaking ever again.  :happy2:

Sounds interesting...
Does it remove the standard part alltogether and replace with a bsh part?

Excellent thanks, I'll order one of those up and give it a try.

I noticed today that it is back firing when coming down throught the rev range on gear change.
Especially at 2000rpm...
There is a real stink of fuel also, so something it making it run far too rich.

I'm hoping that it's ok to drive like this and I'm no doing it any damage as I'm still doing ~40 miles a day to and from work...

When my pcv valve blew, the hole in the side of the housing was venting to the engine bay. That intern blew into the cabin, a smell like an exhaust/fuel leak, but once the valve was changed, it went. What your smelling is the fumes from inside the engine. Making it smell like your saying :happy2:

Great, sounding more bs more like we've pinpointed the problem..
I noticed that the engine noise and exhaust is a bit louder than before as well.
