Just for the record, mine was missfiring on throttle back aswell.

Did you listen for any hissing sound after you shut the engine off under the airbox?.

That'll be were the crankcase pressure will be blowing into the cabin.

Not getting any hissing on shutoff, but have noticed the DV to be noisier than usual as well as the exhaust note.
Engine management light came on tonight.. Should I be worried?
I have to take the wife to work tomorrow, no other option...
However my bsh pcv revamp and stage 2+ catchxan kit is at the postoffice and I'll get it fitted tomorrow..
All going to plan and she should be back to normal before lunchtime...   :happy2:
Otherwise it's something else  :scared:

I expect the engine management light won't just go out on resolution of the problem and will stay on until reset using vcds??

^^ you may find it will go out, but the fault code will stay logged untill its cleared by vcds :happy2:.

Is the car remapped? and have you ever removed it to check its condition.

They are a known weak point (DV's) on mapped std GTi's and should be upgraded to a later version of valve. Later ones were more durable.

If thats  failed, then you would of noticed poor boost.

Fingers crossed this works  :happy2:

Keep us informed

Well the catch can kit arrived; collected it yesterday morning at 0700 ready to get it installed..
However I was raging to find that there are parts missing and it's about as much use as
a chocolate fireguard right now...
The 3 x screws that hold the inlet Manila isolation cap are missing..
I also discovered that the instructions are useless and that that the fitting is not meant for a UK car..
So not very pleased right now...

Too late, I already bought the catchcan kit.
At least it's going to stop this happening again.

I don't have a map, but planning on a bluefin pretty soon.

Going to get a service and fault check up before that though.

Should I be hearing the standard DV hiss on gear change?
If I were to replace the DV what is the best on to replace with, oem or an uprated item?

So, I decided to have a go at fitting this £180 piece of Kit..... although i'm still waiting for the set screws to arrive from Dubtek...
Found some screws that will fit in the meantime...

To be honest the whole thing has been a disaster... and from what I've read not the first time from BSH..

Pros
 - Good, solid quality machined adapter plate
 - Large, substantial catch can

Cons:
 - No hose clamps supplied (BSH claim not required, but leaves the product unfinished in my opinion and for all the cost should be included for a professional product).
 - OEM hose does not fit correctly over the nipple supplied and leaves some risk of vibrating loose. I have secured with tie wrap.
 - Missing parts (screws) (Dubtek's issue)
 - Unit not designed to fit UK car (Charcoal filter in way, therefore supplied bracket is useless).
 - Insructions are useless

Not impressed, and had it not cured my idle and PSV issue completly I would not recommend.

I don't have a new PCV... It has been replaced by a BSH catchcan..

And 'yes' everything you said in the post is correct...

Idle
Smell
Backfire

100% the OEM PCV was the issue...

Thank you

Yes

I have to say with a standard intake I think I have heard my DV release only once since I bought it.
Only really can be heard on cars with intakes

Waste of money catch cans imo.

yet to hear or see a GTi with intake issues due to blocked induction system, plenty of scary photo's but still no failures in this country with the fuels and engine oils we use.

Now wheres my Tin helmet :signLOL:
