Newbie hoping to get back in a Dub...I got one!
« on: June 05, 2010, 06:39:47 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I thought I may aswell sign up on here to help in my search for a GTI.
Im currently driving an MR2 Roadster which has been a bit of fun the past couple of years especially when the weather is like this! Previous to this I had a Lupo Gti on H&R's and a Polo for few years beforehand so I have missed the VW scene over the past couple of years and could do with something a bit more practical as my missus has a Tigra so between us we have pretty useless space.

I regulary drop in at my Local VW forecourt to see whats about but finding alot of nice examples on the dealer network are down south or oop North! Im hoping to keep an eye out for a beauty on here as I find that enthusiasts take care of their cars as much as I do.  :happy2:

There seems to be a fair few ED30's for sale, not many Pirelli's though so I am guessing these are Uber rare?!

I'll keep my eyes peeled!

Cheers

Jon

if you can afford it, hold out for n ed30 or pirelli.  much more tunable than the std gti engine, and rarer.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Smudgster thank you, it's a beauty that you have there but it's a 3 door I'm after really. I will have a browse through the forum to pick up on what to look out for when buying used and hopefully not abused!  :driver:

Hi guys, My search ended last week and I picked up my GTI on friday from down near Heathrow. The trader offered me close(ish) to what I was after for the Roadster and as tax was due on it this month I shook hands on the Golf. The spec is:

05' 3-Door DSG in Laser Blue
Sat Nav
Monza II's
Xenons
Sunroof
Leather
50K on the clock

I think it must have been an Ex Demo model due to the tidy spec on it but it has everything I was looking for (apart from the extra 30bhp!) Its in good condition but has a few scuffs here and there that I hope to tidy up over time with being a perfectionist!

I will get some pics up once its dried off outside again.
