I was always told to buy the best you can afford with helmets

....True, but I also think you have to factor in what you use a helmet for and how often. Driving a closed road car on a few trackdays a year doesn't really justify spending on a FIA helmet as far as I'm concerned.

Mine is very comfy....and the carbon looks rather cool too. :happy2:

I might have known you would have a CF helmet

If you like Arai then check out Flyin Brian on ebay usa he does good deals on them, only down side is they dont come with british kite mark so some tracks wont allow them to be worn there.
The guy that did Truckies artwork for his helmet has done a great job.

I see what your saying Robin, and I do agree but your head is pretty important, so I stick by what I said

it does make me laugh when you see a guy with a ten grand superbike and a 90 quid lid :scared:

....You're not wrong  :happy2:

I have a 90 squid lid for a twenty-five grand (before the mods!) car. My Nitro motorbike helmet has ECE markings which are fine for trackdays. Usual retail is more than 90 but not much more.

What attracted me was the flip-up chin section and more open face. I originally bought it for karting without knowing I'd do any trackdays. I'll be wearing my helmet on the Nordschleife - I don't care what anyone thinks or says.

Very true Robin, this will be a motorbike helmet for me so I do want the best so I know it will perform if needed (hopefully never need to test it! )

I asked a guy in a motorbike shop and he replied "how much is your head worth", he agreed that it is best to buy the best you can afford. Been looking at the Arai chaser which seems to have good feedback, I just need to get to a shop and test fit some!

I use a Shoei helmet for the bike, people reckon you either have a Shoei shaped head or an Arai shaped head, the shell shapes are deffo different and its worth trying as many as you can. Just remember when you try a helmet on in the shop it may feel to tight but the foam padding will give fairly quicky as it molds to your shape so don't buy a bigger helmet by mistake :happy2:

....And never lend your helmet to anyone! It'll change shape.

Did have one of these but smashed it on its first outing along with a brand new £1k exhaust system

After seeing the mess of the helmet with no apparent injury to me :rolleye: I bought another one

My current one..

And just collected my new lid a couple of days ago.. Pretty much the same design..

Have always used Aria in the past but this new one is a Stilo ST4F1 8860.. Incredibly light and more comfortable than the Aria GP6 which surprised me..

Thats a nice looking Shark lid!

Shoei have got a new range coming out, the GT Air, which i'm gonna try when i can find one. Mine is for the motorbike though, not for in the car so I want a decent one so i'm not deafened by wind noise and get a wet face from a leaky visor seal

Cheers mate.

Yeah I know what you mean. This is for on the motorbike too. Its only my second helmet. Its very light and wind noise isn't bad. I had an AGV V Flyer before this (still have it) and that was quite noisy but I would say still a better fit than the Shark. I find the Shark to be very short so its quite close to your face.
