My first polish one little issue.
« on: May 29, 2010, 06:32:48 pm »
Hi Guys,

Just finished my first real good go at getting my new car into some sort of decent standard.

Been on the car off & on since friday afternoon with the weather ........Anyway  I am very happy with how it's turned out, now I need to build up the polish/wax to keep that shine.

Only come across one issue... I have a small patch about the size of a 50p piece on the passenger side of the roof that will not shift at all .....it's quite rough to touch and it looks like it's had something stuck on there and been left for quite sometime, it's definatley not the paint work blistering.

Have you got any suggestions of what I can use to shift it as I have tried all sorts.

Hope you like the pics :happy2:

Pics back on :)

My miltek tailpipes came up good (from black) with metal polish and elbow grease.  Think it was auto glym metal polish  :happy2:

These are seriously bad do you think I could get them somewhere near?

I'm prepared to have a go but I though I would be wasting my time?

Mine were thick black with errm coke or whatever you'd call it.  Its deffinately worth a go.

Some auto sol or autoglym metal polish and a bit of rubbing

For tailpipes, I try to wash them without letting water enter the exhaust. Then degreaser to get all the coke stuff off. Then autosol metal polish and microfibre cloth.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

As for the rough patch, could be anything. If it's bird poo that's been baked on, could have damaged the clear coat to the point where it can only be cured by respray.

+1. I'm sure JPC will be along shortly to put you on the right track. Might help to take some pics of the offending area.

if your tailpipes are evil then fine grade wire wool will get the soot off 100%  :happy2:
